Hi, I am El-Fadel

El-Fadel Bonfoh

Cloud RAN Engineer at Ericsson

I am a Cloud RAN Engineer at Ericsson where I am taking a part in the CloudRAN innovations. In 2021, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Orange Labs where I focused on the acceleration of 5G network functions by eBPF/XDP technology in NFV infrastructures. My research interests are 5G Network, AI (Artificial Intelligence) and ML (Machine Learning), Programmables Control and Data planes, P4 language, NFV/SDN. I earned my Ph.D. in Telecommunication and Computer Science at INSA-Toulouse, under the supervision of Christophe Chassot and Samir Medjiah. During my Ph.D., I was affiliated with LAAS-CNRS and have worked on a stable software architecture for conception, implementation, and deployment of Internet communication protocols.

Virtual Transport Layer (VTL)
Principal Developer 2017 - 2020

Virtual Transport Layer is a protocol deployment management system. VTL is based on combination of XDP and TC Linux subsystems, part of eBPF infrastructure.

Teaching

I am Teaching Assitant at INSA-Toulouse and University Toulouse III-Paul Sabatier (UPS). The main courses I supervised are:

    • Network protocols programming to L2 students.
  • at INSA:
    • Sockets programming in C to A3 students,
    • Software-Defined Networking and Virtualization concepts to A5 students.
